My prepared thank you for the run…
God and Sofia have always shown us that they had a plan. We never knew how it would go, we just had to play along and live it day-by-day. Our journey with Sofia has taken us through so many twists and turns, so many ups and downs. When we rushed Sofia to the hospital last April 25, little did we know that the situation would become more than what we could handle alone; that it would be an extended hospitalization.
One day, my cousin, Genny, asked permission to hold a benefit dinner for us. All Nhatz and I had to do was show up. She said you just focus on being a mother and wife, ate. Then our officemate and running enthusiast, Mavic, asked permission to organize a run for us. Genny decided to just join forces with Mavic, got my brothers and sisters-in-law’s help looking for sponsors and advertising the run, really through facebook then the various running sites, and so here we are today. We’re so touched that Mavic took on the ambitious undertaking of organizing a run when she didn’t have any experience on how to do it.
Thank you to the sponsors, the organizers, our officemate, Daday, for the cute logo, and last but not least, thanks to all of you, dear runners. Thank you for running with us today. We even got registrants who said they would run today from wherever they were like Singapore or the US. Thank you for reposting Sofia’s story and the run details on your facebook walls, tweets or blogs. Many of you learned about Sofia’s story while she was still with us and I know that you really, really prayed for her, and we thank you for that as well.
Our cardiologist, Dr. Jonas del Rosario, invited us to be part of the board to start-up Busilak, a foundation that will support families dealing with heart disease. Busilak means pure of heart. I sometimes think, maybe this is part of God’s plan, to have us help others dealing with heart disease. I usually follow that thought with, God naman, we would have helped even if you hadn’t called Sofia earlier.
Sofia is in heaven now, smiling in gratitude for the love and support for our family your presence here signifies.
Thank you and I hope you enjoy.

It was pouring really hard at 4 am courtesy of Typhoon Mina. Nevertheless, thank you for those who registered but didn’t make it due to the rain, those who registered even though they knew they couldn’t make it, those who registered even though they don’t really run, and of course, those who came despite the rain! It lightened to a drizzle when it was time for the actual run. Our sons thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to play in the rain.
Thanks also to those who joined the breakfast after the run and those who registered for breakfast but couldn’t make it.
