Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter Replacement

I had this conversation with 3yo Tyler as I was leaving for the hospital -

Tyler: Why do you have to go to Sofia?
Trish (deciding to throw back the question): Why?
Tyler: Because you have to!
Trish: Why do I have to?
Tyler: Because everyone loves her!
Trish: Everyone?!?
Tyler: Everyone in this house.

It’s much more than just everyone in this house, actually :)

Sooo, after initial signs of responding to the specific antibiotic, the infection is still there, looking like it’s coming from her peritoneum. Sofia will have a procedure at 7 am tomorrow to replace her Tenchkoff cathether, the one used for her peritoneal dialysis.

Sofia signaled today through her blood test results that she’s ready for this procedure – PT & PTT clotting factors, platelet count, hemoglobin – I’ve learned so much I can apply for medical residency now. When she doesn’t want a procedure she does things like crash her platelet count or spike her white blood cell count.

Please say a little prayer for a smooth procedure.
